| The Dam Paris, Ontario |
Paris is a pretty little town that borders on the Grand River with a road bridge and railway bridge taking you over the river from the Glenmorris side. It was established in 1850 and was named for "plaster of Paris" that was manufactured in the area from the gypsum deposits.
It is also famous for its cobblestone houses ( they are cute). The old Arlington Hotel sits on the towns main street called "Grand river Street". It was built in the 1850's and owned by a Mr. Bradford of Pennsylvania. It has seen quite a bit of renovation in its time.
We used to take our grandchildren there in the Spring and Fall to see the dam or the waterfalls. We would throw stones in the water and try and skim them or make a big splash. Yesterday my grandson came with us and we stopped by the dam. Now 9 years old he remembers every blade of grass and rock out there. It was like old times, though a bit chillier...and with someone that shared their imagination and talked up a storm...most enjoyable. Happy days.

So back to the fabric... the stash is in fact Belfast Linen but I am not sure it is 32 count...seems a bit softer and maybe looser. I bought a lighter shade in 32 count that will take the colours nicely and show them off. I can't wait to start on Blackbird Design's Floral gift. I am feeling a bit more positive about it now and just want to get on with it and enjoy every minute of the stitching, watching it take shape.

Paris sounds lovely - I don't think I ever visited there. I have my JCS now and guess what, your favourite is my favourite too. So we shall stitch the same project together. I need to pull threads and linen first and then to work! Love Irene xxx
paris is probably beautiful in the springtime. (Sorry I couldn't resist. LOL) Being able to visit Mary Maxims is great. I doubt that I would be able to get out of there with only some fabric and floss. :)
